NATCHITOCHES After starting the season with a nine-match road swing, Southland Conference player of the week Keelie Arneson and the Northwestern State volleyball team will host their home opener against Louisiana Tech Tuesday night in Prather Coliseum.
The Lady Demons (5-4) are coming off a 3-0 sweep of the Texas Arlington Hilton Invitational last weekend.
Louisiana Tech (3-8) comes off a 1-2 performance in the Southeastern Louisiana Tournament. The Techsters defeated Southern 3-0 before falling to Southeastern Louisiana and Weber State 3-0, 3-0.
Mackenzie Neely leads NSU with 87 kills (2.81 per set) and has also recorded 18 blocks and seven service aces.
Stacey DiFrancesco follows close behind with 85 kills, 70 digs and eight service aces. DiFrancesco¹s kill average of 3.15/set puts her at sixth in the Southland Conference.
On the defensive side, Keelie Arneson leads the Lady Demons with 153 digs and nine service aces. Arneson is currently fourth in the SLC for digs averaged per set at 4.64.
Additionally, Emily Sweet currently ranks sixth in the Southland for average assists with 9.45.
Middle blocker Emily Maher leads the Techsters in kills with 67 (1.97/set) for the season. Maria Coelho has offered up 309 assists (8.13/set) throughout the first 11 matches of the year.
Stepheny Salas leads the defensive effort for the Techsters, digging up 133 balls (3.50/set).
