ALEXANDRIA, LA.- The 'Perfect Fit Foundation' is sponsoring a pancake breakfast tomorrow morning from 7 to 11 at St. James Episcopal Church in Alexandria.
The foundation's goal is to provide shoes for elementary age children in classrooms where teachers have identified a need...and this is their biggest fundraiser.
The breakfast will run you $7 which includes a stack of pancakes, a sausage, and juice or milk. 100% of the sales goes directly to the purchase of shoes for the kids.
The idea of providing shoes for children stems from the event organizers father Jerry Harp...who was a well-known shoe salesman here in CenLa for many years.
"If Jerry Harp ever put a pair of shoes on you or your mother, your brother, your sister, your child, your grandchild, I want you to come and buy some pancakes so that I can provide shoes for the children that need them in the Rapides Parish School System," says Willie Harp of the Perfect Fit Foundation.
This is the fourth year for the pancake fundraiser. Organizers say the first year they were able to provide 750 pairs of shoes to children and since then it's continued to grow. This year the group plans to provide 1400 pairs of shoes to schoolchildren throughout Rapides Parish.
