The moisture returned to central Louisiana during the night Tuesday and this set the table for rain on Wednesday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms developed during the heating of the daytime and brought some significant rain totals to a few areas. Just south of Simmesport, over two inches fell. One inch fell around Marksville, Jonesville, Forest Hill, and Whiteville. Most folks said the rain was welcome. Many others received no rain; in fact, the coverage was about 40%.
The moisure represents the return of last Saturday's front from the Gulf of Mexico. The moisture will take up residence over Cenla and this will provide a chance of rain every day through next Tuesday. By then, another front will sweep through the area and will bring drier air.
I'll have an update Thursday.
