Success for Pancake Fundraiser

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, LA.- Hundreds flocked to one local church this morning for some old-fashioned pancakes.

The "Perfect Fit Foundation" held it's fourth annual pancake breakfast this morning at St. James Episcopal Church in Alexandria.

The goal of the foundation is to provide shoes for elementary age children who are in need.

Organizers of the event say they sold a record breaking 400 tickets to the breakfast.

That will allow them to reach their goal of providing 1400 pairs of shoes this year.

"We're doing a lot of deliveries of 15 orders or more all around the community. We've had civic leaders stop by. We've had clergy people stop by. We've had citizens stop by. The turnout has been fantastic. We really couldn't be any happier."

The idea of providing shoes for children stems from the event organizers father Jerry Harp. He was a well-known shoe salesman here in CenLa for many years.
