Armed Man Faces Theft Charges

Posted: Updated:

ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. – A man was arrested and charged for armed robbery and home invasion.

According to the St. Landry Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena, Jamez Brown, 19, of 127 Bienville Ave. in Opelousas, was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail. He is facing charges of home invasion, armed robbery, theft of a firearm, theft of a moveable, and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.

Detectives say Brown admitted to firing two gun shots through a door on Sept. to gain entry into a residence. Once inside, detectives say Brown pointed a shotgun towards the victim's head. Brown also admitted to fleeing the scene in the victim's vehicle, Vizena said.

"Brown did not act alone in this crime. He was accompanied by two juveniles who detectives also charged with home invasion," Vizena said. Brown is being held at the jail without a bond.

In a report released Tuesday morning, Vizena said both juveniles charged in the case have been sent to St. James Juvenile Detention Center.
