Zoo's 'Les Fest' Kicks Off

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, LA.- The Alexandria Zoo's annual 'Les Fest' event gets underway tomorrow.

Les Fest begins with an 'adults only' event tomorrow night, that will include a live band, food and drinks from local restaurants, and a silent auction.

There will also be animal demonstrations and a presentation on everything that's going on at the zoo.

Then, Les Fest continues this weekend with a family-friendly event. Admission to the zoo is free for everyone who wants to stop by on Saturday.

This event is held in memory of former longtime zoo director Les Whitt.

"His vision for the zoo was to follow through with major principals for our operation which involve conservation, education, recreation, and even research which is the science aspect of the zoo business," says current zoo director Lee Ann Whitt.

To buy advance tickets for tomorrow night's event, just stop by the Alexandria Zoo. All proceeds from the event benefit the 'Friends of the Alexandria Zoo' organization, which funds many projects and events throughout the year.
