"Les Fest" at the Zoo

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. -- It's one of the biggest days for the Alexandria Zoo that remembers one of it's best zoo directors.

"Les Fest" took place Saturday. It's a celebration of the life of former zoo director, Les Whitt.

The event is also a day for the public to stop by free of charge to take in all of the exciting things the zoo has to offer.

At this year's "Les Fest," people could listen to music, kids could get their faces painted and families could get a bite to eat.

Zoo director Lee Ann Whitt, wife of the late Les Whitt, says he'd be proud of what the zoo has become.

"You know it makes us feel wonderful that people continue to support the mission of the zoo and the vision that Les had for the zoo," she said. "We're so fortunate in Alexandria to have such a good zoo here."

The zoo also held an adult's only "Les Fest" earlier this week. Lee Ann tells us they were thrilled with and thankful for the turnout.
