Felon Hides Gun In Candy

ALEXANDRIA, La. – Deputies arrested a convicted felon from Alexandria on firearm charges last Friday.

According to reports from the sheriff's office, deputies observed a group of people loitering in a store parking lot on Sept 21.  Deputies saw Qwatrell Ford, 19, of 36 Bertie Street in Alexandria, walk quickly to the front door of the store and place his hand in his pocket. 

Deputies followed him into the store and observed him putting a loaded .22 caliber pistol on the candy bar shelf inside the door. 

Ford was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and illegal carrying of weapons. He is currently being held at the Rapides Parish Detention Center on a probation violation in addition to these charges.
