NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State volleyball player Keelie Arneson was named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon after leading the Lady Demons to three conference victories last week.
The Lady Demons have won five straight with the wins over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Lamar and McNeese State.
This is Arneson's second SLC Player of the Week honor this season, the first one being awarded on Sept. 10.
Arneson dug up 62 balls throughout the week, including a season-high 29 in NSU's five-set defeat of Lamar and 23 in the win over AMCC. She also tacked on four service aces and 13 assists for the Lady Demons.
The sophomore libero is currently ranked second in the SLC for digs per set at 4.83 and fifth in aces per set at 0.42 for the season.
Arneson and the Lady Demons hope to keep their winning streak alive as they compete at home against Central Arkansas on Thursday evening. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Prather Coliseum.
