MARKSVILLE, La. - A woman inmate has escaped from the custody of Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office during work duty Thursday.
According to reports from the sheriff's office, Shonda Shanetta Warrior, 38, of the Fourth Street area in Lake Charles, walked away from work detail at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marksville Thursday afternoon.
She was last seen wearing a red prison uniformed. Deputies believe she was picked up in an unknown vehicle heading to Lake Charles. Warrior is serving a five-year sentence on theft charges.
Warrior is described as a black woman, 5'11, weighing 240 pounds with shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes. She also has tattoos of her children's names on her right arm.
