Overview This morning, a shortwave moved over our area. In the wake of that system, a ridge of high pressure will settle into the area. A weak cold front is developing and will move into our area during midweek, this week.

Discussion A Shortwave is a piece of energy that moves separate from normal synoptic weather patterns. A shortwave or piece of energy moved through the Lower Mississippi River Valley, this morning. In the wake of this system, a ridge of High Pressure will build into the area. This ridge is associated with cold and more dry air. This will provide clearing skies and cooler temperatures. In fact, our entire area will start off chilly and become pleasant, with low rain chances and a light to moderate & variable wind for the next couple of days.
For the rest of the day Expect plenty of sunshine with a few clouds possible, becoming mostly sunny to partly cloudy at times. Otherwise, we will see a chilly start throughout Central Louisiana. Rain chances will stay low throughout the next couple of days. Overnight, expect mostly clear to fair skies and low temperatures in the 40's, again.
For the rest of the 7day planner There will be a gradual warming trend through the midweek. Expect pleasant conditions, clear skies and a warming trend through the week. Altogether, rain chances will be low. Wednesday we will see slightly higher rain chances as a weak cold front moves through. The later part of the work week will bring with it, seasonably warm temperatures and continued low rain chances, with lows in the 60's and highs in the mid to upper 80's.
TODAY...Mostly cloudy skies and low rain chances during the morning hours. This, followed by decreasing cloud cover and falling rain chances. Highs will slowly climb into a seasonably cool range for this time of the year. Highs 67-73. North, becoming East wind 2-15mph.
MONDAY NIGHT...Fair to partly cloudy skies and chilly conditions. Lows 42-48. East wind 1-8mph.
