ALEXANDRIA, La. – CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in partnership with LOPA will host the fourth annual LOPA Softball Tournament, Saturday, Oct. 13 at 8 a.m. The tournament will be held at the Pineville Ward 9 SportsPlex Baseball Fields, 3311 Donahue Ferry Rd.
Lynn Herrington, Hospital Resource Coordinator/Family Advocate for the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency, noted an increase in the donor registry. Herrington said, "Over 50 percent of the organ donors this year have been registered donors. Families often find comfort when they learn their loved one made this decision for themselves."
The tournament begins at 8 a.m. and at 10:30 a.m. the LOPA celebration program will begin. Honorary guest speakers will include organ donor and recipient families that will share their stories of how donation has touched their lives.
There are two ways to register to be a donor. You can register online at www.donatelifela.org or you can make your choice known when you get your driver's license renewed at the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles.
