ALEXANDRIA, La. - The man shot dead by Rapides Parish deputies in a standoff last week was laid to rest Monday.
Last Wednesday night, deputies were called out to a home on Cooper Road where a man had barricaded himself in his house after pointing a gun at family members. When he finally came out of the house, deputies tell us he pointed the gun at them, so they were forced to shoot.
The sheriff's office reported that all deputies involved with the standoff are still at work.
Investigators are continuing to work on the case and expect to have it wrapped up in the next few weeks.
