PINEVILLE, La. - Cenla residents who have seen tragedy bring new life came out to play some softball Saturday.
It was the 4th Annual Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency Softball Tournament.
Families of organ donors as well as the organ recipients told their stories, encouraging others to register to be organ donors.
Then things turned competitive on the softball field.
LOPA advocates say it was the perfect way to raise awareness for their cause.
"It's important to raise awareness for organ and tissue donation to help save lives," says Larabee Thompson, a family advocate for LOPA. "One organ donor has the potential to save the lives of up to nine people. And a tissue donor can help up to 100 people feel better. So it's a very important and life-giving cause."
You can register to be an organ donor at the OMV or anytime online at www.donatelifela.org.
