GFP Workshop: Serving Food Safely

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. - The workshop topic, Serving Food Safely, is scheduled for Nov. 2, at 9 a.m. by the Good Food Project.

Master Nutritionist Johnnie Hart is scheduled to present on the topic as she discusses causes and tips for preventing foodborne illness, food storage and handling, proper cooling of cooked foods and cooking temperatures.

"With the holidays just around the corner, it's important to be aware of proper food safety," said Elizabeth Monk, outreach and marketing coordinator of the Good Food Project. "We want our family and friends to enjoy their time together, not spend it sick in bed. Or worse- in an emergency room," Monk said.

This workshop will be held at the Food Bank of Central Louisiana, 3223 Baldwin Ave. in Alexandria. The workshops are open to everyone and donations are requested for admittance.

Due to limited space, participants must register in advance by calling our main office at the food bank at 318-445-2773, email goodfoodproject@fbcenla.org, or our website http://www.goodfoodproject.org/.
