Overview
A ridge of high pressure that is slowly moving East is keeping rain chances low
for now. There is a Low Pressure System over the Great Lakes Region that has an
associated cold front stretched into the Southern Plains. This front will move
through Central Louisiana overnight, tonight. In the wake of this cold front, a
ridge of high pressure will dig in.
Discussion
This ridge of High Pressure will continue slowly moving East. During this time,
we will see gradually increasing clouds and slowly rising rain chances through
the afternoon and into the evening. This evening and overnight, a cold front
will move through the area and provide us with a likely chance for shower and
thunderstorm activity. Some of the thunderstorms associated with this front
could become violent. However there is only a low risk for severe weather as of
Noon, today.
For the rest of the day
Expect a mixture of sunshine and cloud cover with gradually increasing clouds
in advance of an approaching cold front. This front will move in overnight. So,
there will be plenty of time for some more heating today. Winds will become
moderate and gusty at times. By this evening, rain chances will begin going up
and peak rain chances will be later. Highs today are expected to reach well
into the 80's and rain chances will become likely, later. Overnight, expect
mild conditions with a likely chance for rain, associated with this passing
front. Winds will swing around to the North & NW with this front.
For the rest of the 7day planner
Today, expect to see increasing clouds and rising rain chances. The front will pass
through the area overnight. Thursday, we will see a continued chance for early
morning rain, followed by clearing skies and falling rain chances. In the wake
of this cold front a ridge of high pressure will settle in and remain anchored
over the viewing area through the weekend. The rest of the planner will bring
with it, low rain chances, cool AM temps and pleasant conditions. Some
overnight lows will dip into the upper 40's.
TODAY...Early fog is possible, otherwise
increasing clouds that will mix with sunshine. Breezy conditions and warm temps
with rising rain chances (20%) in advance of a cold front. Highs 82-88. S/SW
wind 5-15mph and gusty at times.
WEDNESDAY
NIGHT...Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms (60%) as a cold
front moves through the area. Lows in the 50's. SW wind will shift to the NW
with the front.
