Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. – With the election less than a month away, News Channel Five's Nolan Crane shows us some of the candidates for Alexandria's city council district 3 race.

There are five candidates running for district three's city council seat in Alexandria. We met up with two of the candidates on Wednesday to find out why they should get your vote.

"The people of district three needs a representative that will take to the city council and the mayor of Alexandria their needs and their concerns," says Alice "Red" Hammond.

"I threw my hat in the ring to voice great opinions and to stand-up for the citizens of district three," says Jules Green.

Hammond says she has talked to the residents in her district and she knows what they want to see. Green says he knows what he would change if he is elected.

"They would like to put peoples concerns first. They would like to see that the city employees receive better wages and they would also like to see that there needs are met," says Alice "Red" Hammond.

"The flooding problems that result from the other areas of the city needs to be rectified. We need to have a coherence where we work together to obtain a better Alexandria, districts 1 through 5," says Jules Green.

Both candidates say although they are different, they each have qualities that make them the right person for the job.

"I'm retired, united states air force officer and veteran of two wars, Vietnam and Desert Storm. I've served this country and this community for over twenty years and I'd love to have the opportunity to continue to serve the community of district three for the next four years," says Alice "Red" Hammond.

"I'm a people person, I'm a person that always held my neighbors concern as my concern and I'm a vocal person for the right thing, bringing it to the community and letting everyone know that this is the way the citizens feel. help them, help ourselves and to make Alexandria again the convention city, the metropolis that we should and can be," says Jules Green.

Tune in Thursday night to hear from other candidates in Alexandria's city council, district three race.
