Pianist To Perform At Northwestern State Saturday

NATCHITOCHES, La. – Pianist Misha Namirovsky will perform at Northwestern State University Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall.

The concert is part of the Louisiana Piano Series International. Tickets are $15. Students are admitted free. Dr. Francis Yang and Dr. Christine Burczyk Allen are the organizers of the Louisiana Piano Series International. The program will include works by Beethoven, Schumann and Rachmaninoff.

Namirovsky began his studies at in his native city of Moscow, and continued his musical development in Israel, Germany and the U.S. He holds degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and the Yale University. He is currently pursuing his D.M.A at the New England Conservatory in Boston.

Namirovsky says he always strives to deeply understand the character of the music, andvividly transmit it to the audiences. Following a performance of the Chopin Concerto No. 1 with the Springfield (Mass.) Orchestra, Mark Baszak wrote in the Union - News: "Misha Namirovsky astounded the audience with his flawless technique and mesmerizing yet non-theatrical performance." The Norderstedter Zeitung (Hamburg) summarizes: "young, modest, uncomplicated and already a master of his art; the pianist Misha Namirovskyinspired the public with his idiosyncratic interpretations."

In his career, Namirovsky has performed as soloist in the U.S., Italy, Russia,Spain, Croatia, Germany and Japan. He has collaborated with the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra in Japan, Novaya Rossiya Symphony and Nizhniy Novgorod Philharmonic in Russia, and the Niederbayern philharmonie in Germany. Namirovsky is also a passionate chamber musician, stemming from the time he was a participant at the Marlboro festival in Vermont. Future engagements include concerts in Washington D.C., at the Weill Recital Hall in New York, in Germany, Italy and Israel as well as collaboration with the St. Petersburg Capella Symphony Orchestra in Russia.

Namirovsky is a prize winner of many international competitions including the Louisiana International Piano Competition in Alexandria, the Koscuisco Competition in New York, the Sendai Competition in Japan, and the Spanish composers' competition in Madrid, Spain.
