ALEXANDRIA, La. -- After eight long years, the public finally got the chance Saturday to take a look inside the old Hotel Bentley in downtown Alexandria.
The "Taking it to the Streets" program usually consists of a walking tour around downtown with different city stops along the way.
But, this time was a little different. The entire tour was focused around the hotel.
Walkers learned the history of the hotel and what plans local business owner, Mike Jenkins, has in store for the recently purchased property.
For those who got to take a peak inside, they said, they were pretty impressed.
"Well, we've lived in Alexandria for 17 years and we just want to see a little piece of history," said Camille Breaux, a resident. "I've never been in the Bentley and wanted to see something that I have never been to. I just love Alexandria and see the hotel."
Renovations inside the Hotel Bentley are set to begin soon. Part of the hotel will also be converted into condos.
