The expected warming trend began Friday across central Louisiana. Morning lows were a mix of 30s and 40s, which is 5-15 degrees higher than Thursday morning. The lowest temperatures reported this morning were 33 at Winnfield and 34 at Esler Airport. The daily average is 42 degrees and the record is 18 in 1976. Patchy fog also greeted folks as they headed out to work and school. The fog was dense in local areas and made driving hazardous.
Partly cloudy skies coaxed thermometers into the 70s areawide with Winnfield and Natchitoches reporting 75 degrees. The daily average is 64 degrees and the record is 82 in 2006.
The weekend will continue with early fog and a mix of clouds and sun for the afternoon. Little or no rain is expected. Max temps will reach the middle and upper 70s.
