Brownsville, Tx. - The second game of Louisiana College's road swing was another success, this time against one of the ASC's most storied programs, Howard Payne.
The Lady Yellow Jackets, the 2008 national champions, fell to the Lady Wildcats by a final score of 80-72.
Despite being out rebounded 56-49 and shooting only 27% from behind the arc (8-29), the Lady Wildcats were able to pull off the eight point victory due in big part to another great outing from Natosha Gottlieb and Kala Chenier.
The duo, who both scored 20 points in a record setting victory over Sul Ross on Thursday night, both turned in outstanding performances again on Saturday afternoon.
Chenier led the lady Wildcats with 20 points on 7-16 shooting, while Gottlieb had another tremendous all-around game, recording yet another double-double with 14 points, 15 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals.
The Lady Wildcats are now 5-0 on the season, 2-0 in the American Southwest Conference, and will get a week long break before returning to the H.O. West Fieldhouse for their ASC home opener.
The opponent? The only team to defeat the Lady Wildcats on their home court since January of 2009: Concordia.
Concordia defeated LC in the 2012 ASC Tournament championship game 73-64, the only home loss of Jason Tinsley's tenure in the H.O. Fieldhouse. That game will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday December 8th.
