NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State women's basketball team returns home on Tuesday at 5:30 to face Prairie View A&M looking to remain undefeated at Prather Coliseum.
The game is the first part of a double-header with the men's basketball team who takes on in-state rival Louisiana Tech.
NSU's athletic department and the Natchitoches Area Jaycees teamed up to support the M.A.S.H. (Make a Smile Happen) Toy Drive that benefits children throughout Natchitoches Parish this holiday season. Fans who donate a new toy at the door will receive a general admission ticket for just $4.
Northwestern State (4-3) is in the midst of the toughest part of its schedule losing to Oklahoma on Friday and Houston on Nov. 24. The Lady Demons will go on to play at Arkansas and Mississippi State after taking on Prairie View (1-4), who has advanced to the NCAA tournament last season.
The Panthers are coming off a win at Memphis 70-58 Sunday Nov. 2, but lost to Southland Conference program Stephen F. Austin 62-55 in early November.
Jasmine Upchurch leads the Lady Demons in points (11.9) and rebounds (6.1) per game and Janelle Perez follows with 11 points a contest.
Prairie View is led this season by Latia Williams who averages 15.8 points a game and 10. 4 rebounds a game. Kiara Etienne scores 14.6 points a game and Larissa Scott pulls down 8 boards a contest.
NSU will round out its pre-conference schedule at Arkansas and Mississippi State in late December, and then return home for the conference opener against McNeese State Jan. 3.
