Overview
Cold front continues to push toward the Eastern Seaboard as an associated Low
Pressure System moves into the NE U.S. In the wake of this front, a ridge of
high pressure will move into the area and covering most of the Eastern Half of
the nation. There is also a secondary (developing) Low Pressure that will be
our next weather maker during the mid-week.
Discussion
A dry and cool pacific air mass will move into the area today, behind a broad
frontal boundary with pleasant conditions expected for a short time. So, expect
continued clearing throughout central Louisiana in the wake of a system that is
pushing through the mid-Mississippi River Valley. This pacific air mass will be
short lived as the Surface Ridge quickly exits East on Tuesday. As the ridge
moves out, return flow will get under way by Tuesday morning, providing a
southerly flow.
For the rest of the day,
Highs are expected to reach the mid 60-s and lower 70-s with mostly clear skies
for the rest of the day and overnight. Winds will be moderate and gusty this
afternoon with calming winds overnight, due to a ridge of high pressure. This
ridge will move out rather quickly, later this week.
For the rest of the 7day planner
A system currently entering the Pacific Northwest will move across the Rockies
with a Low Pressure forming on the Lee of the mountains, ahead of the upper
level disturbance. This is a common occurrence known as "Lee Cyclogenesis".
This just means that the Low Pressure will re-develop and intensify before
moving in our direction.
As this low pressure deepens on Wednesday, South winds will strengthen and Gulf
moisture will be drawn to the North. We will see a good chance for showers and
thunderstorms from this mid-week front. This "Re-enforcing Cold Front" Will
knock temperatures 5-10 degrees below normal and in to the lower to mid 30's
for lows.
TODAY...Expect some patchy fog (burning off by 10am). Otherwise,
clearing skies today and seasonably warm conditions. Highs 67-73. Southwest
winds 5-15mph, becoming calm.
MONDAY NIGHT...Clear skies and chilly. Lows 38-44. Light
& Variable winds.
