Swearing In Ceremony For Parish Assessor

ALEXANDRIA, La. –Rick Ducote will be sworn in as the Rapides Parish assessor on Monday, Dec. 31, 10 a.m. at the Assessor's Office at the Rapides Parish Courthouse, 701 Murray St. in Alexandria.

Ducote has been employed at the Assessor's Office for over 17 years. Since 1993, he has worked in each department which includes Residential and Commercial Appraisal, Personal Property and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).  He began his career in residential property and moved to personal property where he supervised that department for 12 years.  He also manages the GIS and computer departments and was named chief deputy in 2007.

Ducote attended Alexandria Senior High and Northwestern State University majoring in mathematics. He also served in the United States Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged in 1993.

Ducote community involvement includes serving on boards and volunteering for the March of Dimes, Renaissance Home, Holiday Village Fire Department, Ward 9 Recreation Board, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, United Way and Cure JM. He also volunteered for the Pineville Youth Baseball Association and Red River Youth Football League and is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pineville.

He has been married for 17 years to Charla Hawthorne Ducote and they have two children, Trey, 14, and Madeline, 11. They reside in Pineville.
