It was a fine Friday-a bit chilly but that puts us all in a Christmas mood.
Cold weather greeted folks who ventured out early with min temps ranging from the middle 20s to the lower 30s. The lowest temperature reported was 25 at Fairfield in Grant Parish. Winnfield, Leesville, Fullerton, Oak Hill, Rigolette, and Glenmora all reported 26 degrees. Warmest readings came from Marksville with 33 and Opelousas with 34. The average for the date is 40 degrees and the record low is a cold 18 set in 1901.
Afternoon highs responded well to ample sunshine with a 25-35 degree turnaround. Natchez, Mississippi only managed 54 degrees but Bellwood and Montgomery hit 62. The daily average is 60 degrees and the record is 79 in 2010.
It will be cold again Friday night with a freeze over much of the area. After that, temperatures moderate and rain returns to the forecast Saturday night through Wednesday morning. The most significant rain will come Christmas Day as another strong front plows through the area.
Have a blessed Christmas. I'll be off for a few days and will post again Wednesday.
