Overview
There is a Stationary front stretched SW, from the Atlantic Coast to the LA
Gulf Coast. There is a piece of energy that is moving toward North LA and
bringing our area a lot of continued rainfall. This front will meander over the
area for a couple of days.
Discussion
Central Louisiana can expect up to an additional 1.5 inches through this
evening and into the overnight. The flood watch has been expanded for the area
through that time.
During the day, Cold Air Advection is expected. So, don't anticipate much
movement of temperatures. It is very likely that many areas have seen their
high temperature for the day. In Cenla, readings have been falling during the
past hour or two.
With temperatures near freezing and scattered rain across the area, we could
see a wintry mix with expected precipitation. So far, the Doppler 5 LIVE radar
has picked up on some frozen Precipitation in the Northern parts of the area
Natchitoches, Sabine and Winn Parishes.
These conditions will be around through Hump-day (Wednesday) of this week.
For the rest of the day,
Expect continued cloudy skies and a definite chance for rain with intensity
staying light to moderate and a slight chance that some of the rain could not see
a complete melt before hitting the surface, resulting in some frozen
precipitation. However if this occurs, NO accumulation is expected.
For the rest of the 7day planner
Through Wednesday, expect continued rainfall, coupled with cold temperatures
and cloudy skies. On Thursday, skies will begin to clear out and temperatures
will be on the rise. The weekend will bring with it, Mostly sunny skies,
seasonably average temperatures and a break from the rain.
TODAY...Overcast skies with a cold rain (100%). Highs 36-42. N/NE wind 10-22 mph. A wintry mix may occur
throughout parts of the area. However, icing is not expected in central
Louisiana but is possible in northeast Louisiana.
MONDAY NIGHT...Overcast with off/on sprinkles and drizzle
(some of the area could see a wintry mix). Temps will hold near steady. Lows
30-36. N/NE wind 7-13 mph.
