Overview
There is a Deep ridge of High Pressure that is extended over the Gulf Coast. A
Strong Low Pressure System over the Great Lakes Region that is bringing a lot
of extremely cold, Arctic air into two thirds of the nation. Otherwise, a cold
front is pushing South and will Stall out just North of Louisiana (against the
northern edge of the High Pressure Ridge). This front will weaken and become
stationary over the Gulf Coast States, during the next couple of days.
Discussion
This welcome streak of dry weather will continue for the next few days with
seasonably warm temperatures and pleasant conditions as this ridge stays in
place and continues to affect the Gulf Coast.
Some fog can be expected for the next few nights, due to a light and moist
onshore flow. Rain chances begin to increase this weekend as a cold front
approaches and stalls out over the area. A better chance for rain will be in
store for us after the beginning of the work week. (as a deep trough digs into
the area and moves through at the end of the 7day planner.
For the rest of the day,
Dry weather will continue to hang in through the day and overnight as this high
continues to slowly move South. Winds will gradually pick up and swing to the
SW. This will bring return-flow moisture tonight. Advection Fog will also
return this evening due to the additional moisture.
The fog that we see overnight could be dense for some and will quickly burn
off, tomorrow and be out of the area by 10am.
For the rest of the 7day planner
Clouds will begin increasing Thursday
and Friday, as our next front moves into the area. This cold front will slow
down and begin to stall out on Friday evening. It will bring us a fair chance
for showers and thunderstorms by the time it makes it to Central Louisiana.
TODAY...Partly cloudy during the morning with patchy fog. Skies will
begin to clear out, becoming sunny, this morning. Highs 67-73. S/SW wind 5-15
mph.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT...Clear sky and mild. Lows 47-53. SW wind
3-8 mph, becoming calm.
