
MONROE, La. (AP) - Katie Lemieux had a game-high 17 points and 13 rebounds as Fairview captured their seventh consecutive Class B State Championship with a 71-38 victory over the Lacassine Lady Cardinals on Wednesday night in Monroe.
The victory for the Lady Panthers (43-1) ties the all-time Louisiana record for consecutive state championships with Zwolle, which captured seven straight titles from 1988-94.
Ashlea Vizena added 15 points and Natosha Morvant scored 13 for Fairview.
Lacassine (39-2) was led by Madyson Brasseaux's 11 points and three rebounds, and Abbie Melanson scored eight points.
Riding a hot-shooting opening period that included five 3-pointers, Fairview put the game away early as they broke out to a 13-4 lead and held a commanding 21-8 advantage after the first quarter. The Lady Panthers built a lead as big as 35 at one point and never trailed in the game.
