At most locations, Friday was the warmest day of the year. There will be many more, however, as we get into the summer heat.
Morning lows were generally lower than the 30-year average of 48 degrees. In fact, Anacoco fell to 38 and Leesville, winnfield, and Oakdale saw 39 degrees. A warm pocket prevailed across western Natchitoches Parish where Bellwood only dropped to 49 degrees and Hagewood to 48 degrees.
The headline of the day was the rapid warm-up that sent temperatures into the 80s at many locations. Winnfield was the warm spot with 82, followed closely by Bellwood at 81. The lowest afternoon highs came from the southern portion of the KALB viewing area, where Ville Platte and Opelousas saw 75 degrees.
Temperatures will likely climb slightly higher Saturday through Monday as warm southwesterly breezes prevail. Pollen levels will be near the top of the scale, with the main culprits being grasses, juniper, and oak.
