CLARKSVILLE, AR - Another doubleheader split with the University of the Ozarks gave the Louisiana College softball team a series split with Eagles, each team winning two games a piece over the two day weekend set.
The Lady Wildcats dropped a disappointing 2-1 extra inning decision in game one after Ali Mathis hit a walk off single to left center in the bottom of the eighth inning.
LC jumped out ahead early in game one on a Stephanie Jaeger single that scored Emorie Nugent to make it 1-0 in the third inning.
Ozarks shortstop Victoria Lemieaux would tie the game in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single that scored Mathis, who later ended the game with her walk-off single in the eigth.
Leslie Eastham had a nice outing in the circle despite being tagged with the loss, as she tossed a complete game (7.2 innings) while giving up two earned runs and striking out eight.
LC would make a statement in game two, as they finished off the Eagles 10-2 in only six innings by way of the eight-run rule.
Lady Wildcats' catcher Courtney Ivey led LC at the plate in game two going 3-for-4 with two runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
LC stole an amazing nine bases in the win, led by Jaeger, Nugent, and Jade Johnson, who each stole two.
Freshman Nancy Bunting picked up the win, going 5.1 innings without giving up an earned run.
LC moved to 11-4 overall, 5-4 in the ASC, with the series split. They will face Birmingham Southern on Thursday at home in a non-ASC doubleheader.
