The week ended on a warm note today but with a large range in temperature.
Morning lows were in the 50s, except for Simmesport where the thermometer only fell to 60 degrees. Scattered light rain was observed as well.
Afternoon highs were a mixture of 70s and 80s. The highest readings came from Sabine Parish where Peason Ridge hit 84 and Many recorded 83. The cool spots were Winnfield and Natchez, Miss. where the thermometer never climbed higher than 70 degrees.
Significant changes in the weather pattern are expected this weekend. A strong cold front will arrive Saturday night or early Sunday morning. The front will be preceded by a general rain Saturday into early Sunday. The sky will clear Sunday afternoon as a strong northwesterly wind becomes established behind the front. A distinct cool spell will last most of next week. Winter is not over yet.
