Finally, a warming trend began in central Louisiana Wednesday afternoon. But it was a cold start with lows from the upper 20s to the middle 30s. Winnfield once again reported a low of 26 degrees for the lowest temperature in the area. Natchez, Miss. came in second with a low of 27 degrees. The air was "warmer" in the southern part of the area, with Opelousas, Simmesport, and Eunice reporting 34 degrees.
Strong sunshine forced a rapid warm-up, with temperatures turning around 30-40 degrees from the morning low to the afternoon high. Many, Simpson, Natchitoches, Anacoco, and Peason saw the thermometer reach 68 degrees. Natchez, Miss. was the cool spot again with a high of 61 degrees.
Thursday promises to be a delightful day as the warming trend continues to creep in.
