The new month of April began gloomy with widespread, dense fog. Visibility was down to a few hundred feet in some areas. However, the day improved as the fog lifted by mid-morning.
Low temperatures were in the 50s but felt lower because of the dampness of the air. Winnfield, Atlanta, and Natchez, Miss. all reported 50 degrees for the cool spots in the area. Afternoon highs were mostly in the 70s thanks to ample sunshine, but temperatures pushed all the way to 81 degrees at Peason, Bellwood, and Natchez, Miss.
A cold front will sag into central Louisiana late Tuesday. The front will bring more rain and cooler weather.
