Strong southerly winds, gusting to 30-35 mph at times, brought a does of spring fever to central Louisiana Tuesday.
Morning lows ranged through the 60s, a full ten degrees higher than the average for the date. Despite limited sunshine, afternoon highs were able to climb into the upper 70s to the middle 80s. Bellwood and Simmesport won the honors as the warmest points in central Louisiana with a high temperature of 86 degrees. Pitkin and Oakdale made 78 and 79, respectively.
A few showers and thunderstorms moved through during the afternoon but only trace amounts were reported.
It will be a different story Wednesday through Thursday morning as a strong cold front, accompanied by significant upper-level forcing, affects the area. Severe weather and locally heavy rain are expected. Stay informed!
