It was a warm Monday for central Louisiana as temperatures soared well into the 80s. Bellwood hit 87 degrees for the warmest reading while Opelousas saw 82 degrees. The 30-year average is 82 degrees and the record is 91 set in 2002.
The day began with thick, pea-soup fog blanketing most of the area and temperatures in the middle 50s to the lower 60s. The fog lifted by late morning and permitted sunshine to warm the air.
Tuesday will offer the return of scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the best chance in the afternoon.
