By all accounts, Monday's weather was great.
There was a bit of a chill in the air early Monday with lows ranging through the 40s. Leesville reported 40 degrees for the lowest reading while several locations hit 47, including Simmesport, Opelousas, Oberlin, Colfax, and Bunkie. The average low for the date is 61 and the record is 38 set in 1954.
Ample sunshine turned the temperature around 30+ degrees, thus allowing daytime highs to reach into the 70s. However, Anacoco and Colfax reached 80 degrees. The cool spot was Natchez, Miss. with 75 degrees. The 30-year average is 83 degrees and the record is 95 set in 1906.
Tuesday promises to be just as nice as a slow warming trend continues.
