By all accounts, the weather Monday was beautiful.
The day began; however, with a chill in the air as low temperatures dropped into the 40s and the 50s. Winnfield and Natchez, Miss. both reported 45 degrees for the cool spots in the area. Marksville was the warm spot with 53 degrees. The average for the date is 63 degrees and the record is 43 set in 1960.
Afternoon highs ranged from the upper 70s to the lower 80s. Several locations failed to reach 80 degrees, including Natchez, Miss., Opelousas, Fairfield and the Charles Park and Cherokee Village subdivisions in Alexandria. All of these stations saw a max temp of 79 degrees. Peason Ridge in Sabine Parish was the warm spot with a max temp of 86 degrees, followed closely by Bellwood with 85 degrees. The 30-year average for the date is 85 degrees.
Tuesday promises to be a bit warmer.
