A convective system organized in northern and central Texas Tuesday afternoon and moved into central Louisiana Tuesday evening. This system produced heavy rain over portions of central Louisiana. Peak amounts were observed in three areas: southwest Rapides Parish, western Avoyelles, western St. Landry, and southern Evangeline. Six inches of rain fell in five hours several miles east of Ville Platte. Flash flooding closed roads in the vicinity.
Other high rainfall totals were 3.74 at Marksville, 3.71 at Eunice, 3.70 at Brouillette, and 3.00 at Bunkie and Whiteville.
Thursday promises to begin pleasant with lows in the middle to upper 60s but seasonally hot weather is on tap for the afternoon with many highs reaching 90 degrees.
