Early morning thunderstorms rumbled through central Louisiana Sunday bringing beneficial rain, lightning and thunder, and gusty wind at times.
Substantial rainfall was observed across portions of central Louisiana. According to Doppler radar estimates and rain gauge data, the heaviest rain fell across portions of Sabine, Grant, LaSalle, central Avoyelles, and northeastern Rapides Parishes. Here are the top five totals:
The morning rains cooled the air and the persistent clouds kept afternoon high temperatures in the lower to middle 80s, several degrees lower than normal.
