Disturbance 91-L continues in the east-central Gulf of Mexico. There is a broad area of low pressure along a trough which extends from 29N89W to 19N89W. This feature is moving slowly northward. Convection is located almost exclusively to the east of the surface trough.
91-L is expected to move slowly northward and then turn northeast withe the approach of a cold front and a segment of the subtropical jet stream. This will allow only modest strengthening and there is a chance a tropical or a subtropical cyclone could develop. The most likely destination is Florida. Dry air and the aforementioned subtropical jet segment should keep the system sway from central Louisiana.
Elsewhere in the Atlantic Basin, the situation is quiet.
