Tropical Storm Andrea came ashore in the Big Bend area of Florida earlier this evening. Specifically, Andrea made landfall in Dixie County Florida about 10 miles south of Steinhatchee around 4:40 PM CDT. Andrea's maximum wind at the time was 65 mph.
Andrea will parallel the East Coast of the United States through Saturday and then turn east into the open Atlantic Ocean by Sunday night. Locally heavy rain will follow Andrea's trek through that area.
Elsewhere in the Atlantic Basin, tropical storm formation is not expected through Saturday.
