The heat continued Thursday as temperatures stayed well above seasonal averages.
The day began warm and muggy with lows in the lower to middle 70s. Oakdale was the cool spor with a low of 70 degrees. Ville Platte, Simmesport, and Opelousas only dropped to 76 degrees. The 30-year average is 70 degrees.
Afternoon highs ranged through the 90s with Charles Park in Alexandria and Fairfield in Grant Parish only hitting 91 degrees. The folks around Hagewood found themselves on the high side of the thermometer with a high of 97 degrees. The 30-year average is 90 degrees and the record high is 100 set in 2011.
A weak front will move through central Louisiana Friday. This front should be able to produce hit-and-miss showers and thunderstorms. However, little or no relief from the heat is expected as highs once again soar into the middle 90s.
