HEAT AND SOME STORMS

Posted: Updated:

It's Friday and the weather pattern was typical of late June.

Morning lows were in the upper 60s and the lower 70s. The lowest temperature was 68 at Anacoco while Simmesport reported the highest reading with 74 degrees. The 30-year average for the date is 71 degrees.

Afternoon highs ranged through the 90s. The thermometer soared to 95 degrees at Many, Ville Platte, Esler Airport, and Hagewood. In contrast, Natchez, Miss. and Fairfield could only make 90 degrees. The 30-year daily average is 91 degrees and the record high is 103 in 1906.

Friday also brought another round of hit-and-miss showers and thunderstorms. A few locations saw a good rain, with DeRidder reporting 1.56 inches; Peason Ridge measured 1.14 inches; and Colfax saw one inch. Other locations saw little of no rain-I estimate the coverage at 40%.

The weekend offers no important changes in the ongoing weather pattern. Enjoy!
