The Tropical Atlantic remains quiet today. Although I am tracking several tropical waves, none show any promise of development in the near-term. Tropical cyclone formation is not anticipated through Saturday.
In the longer-term, conditions may become more favorable for tropical development during the first half of July. The Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO), an interaction between deep tropical convection and the Earth's general circulation, is expected to influence the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico portion of the Basin.
