I've finished talking to the weather watchers and their information suggests the expected change in the weather pattern is unfolding.
First, the changing pattern can be seen in the variation of reported minimum temperatures. The lowest readings came from the northern and western portions of the area and the highest mins from the southeast. Winnfield dropped all the way down to 61 degrees, while Jena and Bellwood were close behind at 62 degrees. Opelousas and Eunice reported 71 degrees in the more humid air mass.
Afternoon highs mirrored the trend of the morning temperatures. The highest temperature came in from Anacoco with 96 degrees. Temperatures were also high locally, with AEX and ESF both reporting 95 degrees. Temperatures failed to reach 90 at Natchez, Miss. (86) and at Opelousas (89).
Afternoon heating was able to trigger showers and thunderstorms in the more humid air mass. Simmesport, Bunkie, Opelousas, Lecompte, and Natchez, Miss. all reported measurable rainfall.
The moisture is slowly moving toward the northwest and will overspread all of central Louisiana over the weekend, resulting in higher rain chances.
Have a good weekend.
