Three are accused of allegedly trying to steal scrap metal

DEVILLE, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - On July 8, deputies from the Deville Sub-station responded to highway 115 and Bert Paul Rd. in reference to three individuals allegedly stealing scrap metal from an abandoned residence.

The three subjects reportedly at the location were identified as Douglas Paul Garoutte, Conan Alexander Bordelon and a 14- year -old juvenile. 

According to the Deville Sub-station, the subjects all stated that they had permission to be on the property. They also stated they were told they could move the scrap metal.  Officers say they were able to get in touch with the owner of the property and they said that no one had permission to be on the property or to remove anything.

Garoutte, 32, and Bordelon, 27, were placed under arrest and transported the Rapides Parish Detention Center. 

Garoutte was charged with one count criminal trespassing, one count burglary and one count contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Bordelon was charged with one count criminal trespassing  and one count burglary.

Garoutte was released on a $5,250 bond.

Bordelon was released on a $3,750 bond. 

The juvenile offender was issued a citation for trespassing and released to a family member. 

The investigation is ongoing.
