Funeral set for two firefighters killed in crash

CHALMETTE, La. (AP) - Funeral services are scheduled Friday for two New Orleans firefighters killed in a truck crash in Long Beach, Miss., on Sunday.

WWL-TV reports (http://bit.ly/12p7p9N ) services for 28-year-old Tommy Ashby Jr., of Chalmette, and 27-year-old Scott Blanchard, of Metairie, will be held collectively at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home in Chalmette.

The New Orleans Fired Department says Ashby, a six-year veteran of the department, was assigned to Engine #14 on the 2nd platoon, and Blanchard, a three-year veteran, worked on Engine #37 on the 2nd platoon.

Public visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a jointly held memorial service to follow.
