Wedding Season in Cenla in full swing

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - This summer wedding season is a peak time for local vendors as their offer a wide selection of wedding attire.

They offer everything from bridal wear to the hairstyling and accessories.

"Well we are doing a lot of lace right now. A lot of vintage. The colors are still the regular white and ivory we do a lot of champagne. The dresses they like a lot of coverage on their back. pretty backs and something on the shoulders now," said Wanda Basco, a sales clerk at  The Bird's Nest Bridal Shop.

"Well any style for brides is amazing because it's such a special day and a special occasion that they want to look really elegant.  However the trend now is half up half down which is flattering to any type face," said Dan Forest, with Beverly Hills One Day Spa.

Local wedding experts at The Bird's Nest say they offer it all as brides gear up for their unforgettable day.

"We have dresses, we have veils, hair pieces, we do tuxedoes for the gentlemen. Basically everything you need," said Basco.

Overwhelming as it may seem, preparation has proven to be key for the bride-to-be.

Statistics show the average couple spends a year and thousands of dollars planning for the occasion.

"If you're going to have your hair and makeup done for your wedding what I suggest is go and have it done ahead of time for a trial run and shoot your wedding portraits on that day. That way your look is consistent and on your wedding day all you have to do is go in and tell your stylist lets do what we did before and you don't have to worry about a thing," said Forest.
