ALEXANDRIA, La.  (KALB News Channel 5) – According to the Alexandria Police Department, they arrested a man and charged him with two counts of unauthorized entry in a place of business, one count of auto theft, one count aggravated flight and resisting an officer.

He was also charged with one count driving under suspension, one count no insurance, one count hit and run, and one count of improper display of license plate on July 9.

Billy Ray Reed was arrested by APD Detectives following a two week investigation into several commercial burglaries and a vehicle theft in the Alexandria area. The theft reportedly occurred on June 29.

The traffic charges stem from when Reed was reportedly stopped for a traffic violation on June 20. APD says, Reed led officers on a pursuit before wrecking the vehicle. Then he tried to flee on foot.

Reed was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center.  His bond is set at $20,250.

Reed has been booked by Rapides Parish Detention 59 times.

The investigation is ongoing.
