Northwood High School theft

Posted: Updated:

LENA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) The Rapides Parish Sheriffs office is on the hunt for suspects in the Northwood High School case.

An unwanted surprise on the campus of Northwood Hight School.

"In the early morning hours, deputies responded to a theft at the school. The gated areas where they kept a lot of the lawn equipment, the weed eaters, pressure washers, the tractor was taken, the zero turn mower was taken, several of the weed eaters, and two of the pressure washers were taken," said Detective Shannon Eddlemon.

Deputies say more than 28,000 dollars worth of equipment was stolen from the agricultural building.

Northwood High School Administrators say they are shocked by the crime.

"The audacity that some one could take something from a kid. It's personally disappointing, that whole human kind thing, but it is also from a school perspective, it is disappointing that someone would feel like they could come in and take from our kids," said Dana Nolan.

Although the investigation is on going, those involved say they are confident the case will be solved.

"They have been here everyday since the incident occurred and I am 100% confident they will catch these folks who are involved in this," said Dana Nolan.

"We will find whoever stole this property and they will be arrested and charged to the full extent of our law. You know, whatever we need to do put these people in jail, that is what we are going to do," said Detective Shannon Eddlemon.
